Chuseok: Discover Korea’s Harvest Festival
Chuseok, one of Korea's most cherished holidays, is a time of gratitude and sharing as the country celebrates the bountiful autumn harvest. Known as the "Korean Thanksgiving," Chuseok falls on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month. It's a day when families gather to honor their ancestors and enjoy quality time together.
The Meaning and Origins of Chuseok
Chuseok originates from a time when people gave thanks for the harvest of crops and grains in autumn, a season of abundance. For centuries, it has been an essential part of Korean culture, with families coming together to visit ancestral graves and perform memorial rites called charye.
